FANUC 0i-F: recording the system model, hardware and software versions before requesting repair
“FANUC system” alone is not enough to select maintenance documentation. Using the 0i-F configuration screens, this guide explains how to record hardware, software series and editions, and associate screenshots with the machine nameplate and fault time.
Contents
Machines that both display “0i” may differ in control generation, turning or milling application, and software edition. A single alarm photo often leaves repair personnel needing to ask which equipment is involved. A system configuration record gives subsequent manual searches, spare-parts comparisons and fault discussions a clearly identified subject.
This example is limited to 0i-F
The screens below follow B-64605EN/01 and apply to the 0i-TF, 0i-MF and 0i-PF listed in that manual. System configuration has separate hardware and software screens: after a normal start, access them through the SYSTEM function and the soft key of the same name, and use the page keys. The software screen lists software name, series number and edition separately, so record “series” and “edition” as distinct fields. For other generations, consult the corresponding maintenance manual first.
Keep three kinds of information in one record
- Machine identity: internal asset number, machine builder, complete machine model and serial number. Photograph the nameplate clearly to avoid confusing similar machines in the same workshop.
- Controller identity: complete system model, screenshots of every configuration page, and the names and specifications actually shown on the hardware screen. Mark unreadable characters as awaiting confirmation; do not fill them in from a similar model.
- Software identity: record each name, series number and edition, keeping full-page photos rather than cropping out a single number. Number multiple pages in sequence.
Name the folder with the machine number and collection date, and add a line describing the collection state: normal startup, active alarm, or post-repair verification. Keep the recorder’s name and time as well. Comparisons can then distinguish an actual change from a photograph of a different machine.
A configuration record does not replace a data backup
Photos help with checking, but cannot reconstruct parameters, machining programs or machine-builder data. If the work involves board replacement or recovery, separately verify which machine each existing backup belongs to, when it was created and whether it is complete. Identical filenames do not establish interchangeability. For the option-information file, see OPRM_INF.000 backup and recovery boundaries.
Final checks before handing the record to repair personnel
Submit the configuration record together with the complete alarm, alarm axis number and recent component replacements or parameter work. If the system will not start, provide readable nameplates and historical records first, explicitly stating “software version not read during this visit”; do not present old photos as the current condition. Recording only requires viewing screens; parameter write enable is not needed for photography. More material is available in the FANUC CNC repair section.
